Sebastian*e, queer martyr is a video multi channel video installation exploring different ideas, conceptions, and ways of understanding martyrdom within the queer/trans* community. the installation focuses on the martyrdom of St Sebastian, an icon already readily used within the gay male community, to ask questions about self victimisation, marginalisation, care, persecution. the videos alternate between interviews with three different queer/trans* people, and the scene of the martyrdom of st sebastian, played by the same three people. the three form a triangle: the victim (Sebastian), the persecutor (the archer), and the witness (Irene) and each channel of the installation shows the scene from their own perspective.
The video installation was presented at 8th conference of the Swiss Association for Gender Studies (SAGS) 2025.
